DIGIFUS 4.0 – Phase 3

Digitisation of manufacturing processes based on focused energy metal deposition to increase energy efficiency and reduce material consumption: welding and additive manufacturing.

This research project focuses on the innovative and sustainable development of an additive manufacturing process using focused energy metal deposition. To this end, the aim is to acquire complete knowledge and control of the process’s operating variables in order to ultimately achieve its full digitalisation and automation.

The main objective of the project is to develop a digital twin of manufacturing processes based on the deposition of metallic materials using focused energy, with a view to studying the feasibility of applying this manufacturing technique in companies in the aeronautical and automotive industry value chain, determining its optimal parameters and estimating quality indicators for the manufactured parts.

In this phase, the final version of the digital twin of the GMA-DED process is being designed and integrated into the simulation software.
